When I first gave it some power I saw the screen on the right. As well as the general mush there are vertical lines running up through the characters. The vertical line has gone and I&#8217;m just left with the mush.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.randomorbit.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/MZ-80KSignals.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1100\" src=\"http:\/\/www.randomorbit.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/MZ-80KSignals-300x201.png\" alt=\"MZ-80KSignals\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.randomorbit.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/MZ-80KSignals-300x201.png 300w, https:\/\/www.randomorbit.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/MZ-80KSignals.png 487w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Diagnostics continue.<\/h3>\n<p>Fortunately I have a copy of the service manual and on page 11 it shows a series of expected &#8216;scope traces. At pin 8 of IC7 there should be an 8Mhz wave. Sadly, I see about 760Hz. Way off.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.randomorbit.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/MZ-80KClockCircuit.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1099\" src=\"http:\/\/www.randomorbit.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/MZ-80KClockCircuit-300x161.png\" alt=\"MZ-80KClockCircuit\" width=\"300\" height=\"161\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.randomorbit.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/MZ-80KClockCircuit-300x161.png 300w, https:\/\/www.randomorbit.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/MZ-80KClockCircuit.png 454w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>It doesn&#8217;t seem possible as the video is rock solid and all of the video signals are derived from that 8Mhz clock signal. I&#8217;ve checked several times and I always get the same result.
